The highly anticipated Taste of Summer event is back at the National Mississippi River Museum & Aquarium, featuring vendors and musicians from around the tri-state area. Guests are invited to come after-hours in the boatyard and plaza. Taste of Summer is open to all ages and visitors are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets to use as a limited number of picnic tables will be available.
The annual event will take place August 7. Food and beverages will be available beginning at 5 PM, as well as live music running from 4:30 PM – 9 PM. From 5 PM – 7 PM, guests can take their shot at the dunk tank, provided by Big Time Events, to dunk the River Museum’s Vice President of Finance and Operations Tommy Lange and Vice President of Living Collections Andy Allison.
Food vendors will compete for the People’s Choice award, voted on by a panel of judges from the River Museum and Dubuque community. Beverages, including local wine from O’ So Good Winery and brews from Dimensional Brewing Company, will also be available for purchase. Admission is a suggested $5 donation to support conservation programs at the River Museum, and beverage sales and dunk tank proceeds will also support the efforts.
Ample parking will be available in the public lot outside of the River Museum. Visitors can enter at either the William Woodward Mississippi River Center or National River Center entrances. The River Museum’s indoor exhibits will not open and general admission is not included.
